The No 1 reason women fail at Business is because they place the least importance on the most important thing.
Their Health! Without Health There is No Wealth!
Coming from a stressful corporate background and having spent over 20 years in the Beauty Industry, I witnessed so many women neglecting their health and wellbeing and lose touch with the simple things that have a such a positive impact on their health and appearance.
My passion is to inspire women to be the best they can be in their health, appearance, mindset, attitude and life balance.
Ok, I know you can say you’ve heard it all before and that there’s just not enough time in the day to worry about it, but ultimately your health will be the deciding factor to your ultimate success and the state you will be in to enjoy the fruits of your labour.
A wise person once said “When you fail to plan you plan to fail.” The first thing on your list should be time for exercise. How many of you make a list of all the things you need to do to set up your business, and have daily “To Do” lists, yet I’ll bet very few have their health on their mind when they write their list. You must make time for your health.
Your primary focus to avoid the risk of health problems is to maintain optimum circulation. A 30 minute daily walk is a great start. So let’s look at more simple things you CAN do to keep you refreshed and sharp throughout the day.
For you to feel well, your blood needs to flow freely through your veins, carrying nutrition and oxygen easily where it needs to go.
Inflammation and Blockages are caused by lack of circulation, causing minor problems and in many cases can lead to very serious conditions like cancer, heart disease and stroke.
So enough about the doom and gloom, the good news is that if you take a few simple steps everyday, you will be able to avoid many serious health conditions later on.
So what can you do about it?
Let’s go!
SLEEP
Seems simple enough but how many of you are getting enough quality sleep? I mean quality sleep, because if you’re lying there wide awake, that is not deep sleep which is required to regenerate your cells and charge your batteries.
Think about the times you’ve made poor decisions, you were either tired and had a lapse of judgement or maybe too much alcohol.
Either way, to be successful you need to have a sharp mind, because there are going to be times where critical thinking and decision making is required and this will not be effective if you are tired.
ALCOHOL
In business it’s quite acceptable to go out for drinks, perhaps entertaining clients or winding down at the end of the day. Remember that alcohol is a depressant and will slow your thought processes down. Also adds lots of unnecessary calories.
I once spoke with a client who was trying to lose weight and she asked how much of a contributing factor alcohol was to losing weight. She went on to say that in her male oriented industry, it was “expected” to participate in excessive drinking on a weekly basis and that you would not be trusted unless you did so.
Excessive alcohol will not make you successful for the right reasons. Eventually it will takes it’s toll on you in many ways.
SKIN
Lack of sleep, excess coffee, tea and alcohol and poor diet can all lead to dull, sullen looking skin. UV lighting in offices can also cause damage similar to the rays of the sun. Keep to a regular, simple, skin care regime so that your skin remains healthy and free of allergy, pigmentation and other skin disorders.
BREATHING
Ever heard the term “take a deep breath”? There’s a reason for it.
How much better do you feel when you take a deep breath? Practice taking deep breaths as often as you can throughout the day. Particularly after sitting for long periods of time and when feeling stressed. This opens up the airways and increases oxygen flow which in turn increases cognitive ability. You will instantly calm down and think more clearly.
WATER
Our bodies contain 60% water. It is a must to replenish our water supply regularly throughout the day. Coffee, tea and alcohol are not water. We need to protect the most important organs in our body which are the brain, heart ,kidneys and lungs, all comprised of over 70% water. Remember our skin is also the largest organ in our body.
So it makes a lot of sense to keep flushing your system with fresh water all day. I keep it near where you are most often, e.g, desk, car and bedside table. It will become a habit.
SMOKING
Don’t do it. No need to say anymore. If you have time to go out for a smoke, you have time for something else more useful, like a quick walk. Seek help from professionals or organisations like Quitline to help kick the habit.
Like it or loathe it, our bodies are designed to move. Every hour, on the hour get up and at least have a good stretch and a 2-3 minute walk. It’s enough to get the heart rate up, increase oxygen absorption and clear your head.
Fitness trackers are great at buzzing you with an hourly prompt.
TIME OUT
This is a must, “all work and no play…” You will burn out if you don’t have some “me” time.
It’s difficult, I know, with family, work and in many cases caring for elderly parents as well but without you, they’ll suffer. Personally, I go dancing.
I have fun and forget everything while I’m there. Find something that makes you switch off.
So now you know the number 1 reason why women fail at business.
These simple daily habits will keep you on the pathway to good health so that you can power up the ladder of success and achieve all your goals feeling great all the way.
